The ShuttleXpress is a controller designed for video and audio editing. It has eight digital buttons and two dials: one that functions like a paddle, turning about 70° left and right (intended for scrolling backwards and forwards through clips) and springs back to the centre; and a jog wheel, which is similar to a Spinner, but moves in increments (for scrolling through clip a frame at a time). For assigning buttons the paddle is considered to have seven discrete directions on each side. The jog wheel has ten steps.

It could be fun to make a game around using it. It'd be a bit clumsy, but you can use a dial with each hand and still access three of the buttons.

For some reason it's significantly cheaper to buy it from Contour directly than secondhand.

I've seen some pictures of a grey/silver coloured one.

I've seen somewhere that said it was 'Thin As a Drinks Coaster', but it's 3cm tall…
