Adaptor for connecting different modern controllers to the Mega Drive and PC-Engine, either via Bluetooth or USB. Typical of Brook, probably as low-latency as you can get. Has good configuration options available with button combinations: you can remap buttons, switch between three and six button mode, etc.

Both these consoles are a bit lacking when it comes to quality joysticks, so this is pretty handy.

They're no longer being made, so prices can be a bit silly, but there's also no alternative if you're after a USB connector.

Rjt adds: Make sure you update your firmware, as my adaptor didn't even have the ability to switch to 6-button mode with the firmware it came with.

Compatibility

  • Versus Fighting Pad - A PS3 controller with six face buttons, two shoulder buttons, and a clicky stick. The layout's a bit odd, so the default PS3 mapping puts the bottom row as A, B, Z (top row is fine: X, Y, Z), so you'll just need to remap that one button. Works great for Street Fighter, but the clicky stick feels weird for Streets of Rage (double-tapping the directions doesn't feel good).
